SATURDAY WEEKEND RIDES: All rides start at 8:00am
Please be adequately prepared for all rides. Bring fluids and food such as Powerbars (I like chocolate best) or Clif Bars. Bring enough supplies to change at least two flats.
If you plan to cut a ride short, please know the route and use the buddy system. Plan ahead and find a partner to ride with. Any suggested short ride options below are not staffed by Rincon Board members. We cannot guarantee that any ride mentioned will have a Rincon Board member present. Please ride safely, obey the rules of the road, be courteous, and for heavens sake, only pass on the left. When in doubt, ask one of the oldies (oops, I mean seasoned veterans) whether you are doing something correctly. Remember that when riding, your carelessness is dangerous to others. The first four weekends of the month have a ride scheduled. If a fifth weekend occurs, we like to call it a mystery ride. Mystery rides are announced via our members only hotflash (email) and these rides are always scheduled based on suggestions form the members of the club.
For detailed descriptions of each ride, please select them using one of the links on the left. The rides are as follows:
FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH ZUMA RIDE: Las Posas road in Camarillo to Zuma Beach and back.
SECOND SATURDAY OF THE MONTH CASITAS PASS: This is a loop beginning and ending at Inside Track in Ventura. Inside Track is located at 38 W Main Street, Ventura.
THIRD SATURDAY OF THE MONTH SANTA PAULA OJAI LOOP: This is a loop beginning and ending at Inside Track in Ventura. Inside Track is located at 38 W Main Street, Ventura. This ride goes east to Santa Paula, up highway 150 and into Ojai. From Ojai, the group often makes a decision to either head back down the bike path to Ventura or take a few side roads that eventually meet up with the bike path and then heads back in to Ventura. The Tuesday night duathlons are back beginning the first Tuesday in April. The duathlons will take place on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays beginning in April and running through August. Be there around 6:00pm for a warm up on your own or with others. The first wave of starts is at 6:30 pm. For those newbies out there, the duathlons have a staggered start with the fastest starting last. The staggered start allows everyone to train with others. The fastest is not always the first one done. Spectators and extra help are always welcome.
Cost: There is no cost. These are training options and loads of fun. It's like a race that you get to do for free.
Registration: Just show up, let Shigy know that you're there, and then toe the line with others that have a comparable finish time to yours.
What can you do: All that we ask is that you find one evening to help out. Volunteer to be a timer, spotter for traffic, or just help out in any way needed. These are for fun, but they cannot happen without the volunteers. Please set aside one night during the duathlon season to help out. It won't take more than an hour of your time at most and your help will be much appreciated.
