FIRST AND THIRD TUESDAYS (APRIL THROUGH AUGUST)
The Tuesday
night duathlons are back beginning the first Tuesday in April. The
duathlons will take place on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays beginning in
April and running through August. Be there around 6:00pm for a warm
up on your own or with others. The first wave of starts is at 6:30
pm. For those newbies out there, the duathlons have a staggered start
with the fastest starting last. The staggered start allows everyone to
train with others. The fastest is not always the first one done.
Spectators and extra help are always welcome.
Cost:
There is no cost. These are training options and loads of fun. It's like a race that you get to do for free.
Registration:
Just show up, let Shigy know that you're there, and then toe the line
with others that have a comparable finish time to yours.
What can you do:
All that we ask is that you find one evening to help out. Volunteer to
be a timer, spotter for traffic, or just help out in any way needed.
These are for fun, but they cannot happen without the volunteers.
Please set aside one night during the duathlon season to help out. It
won't take more than an hour of your time at most and your help will be
much appreciated.
Directions:
From Ventura, take the 101 north
to the state beaches exit just north of Ventura. Proceed under the
bridge until you arrive on highway 1. Look for people wearing a lot of
spandex (maybe too much) just north of Emma Wood state beach on highway
1.
From Carpinteria, take the 101
south to the Sea Cliff exit. Turn right onto highway 1. Take in
breathtaking views of the ocean while you travel almost all the way to
Emma Wood State Beach. Look for people wearing a lot of spandex just
